Alion: A careful selection of Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) from terroirs located in the best areas of Ribera del Duero. Aged for 12-14 months in 100% new French oak Bordeaux barrels before an additional 15 months in bottle

Valbuena No. 5: Primarily Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) with a very small percentage of Merlot added depending on the vintage. The wine is sourced from most of the vines (35-years-old) on the lower slope on calcium rich soils with sedimentary composites. This wine shows the great distinction of each vintage. The “No 5” comes from the 5 years of aging between wooden cooperage and bottle.

Unico: The flagship wine to this estate. The winery employs the longest, most complex aging process in the world to craft this wine subject to vintage quality. The wines have been aged at the winery for 10 years (6 years in mix of cooperage, 4 years in bottle) before being released to market. A blend of Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon from 35-year-old vines on sandy quartz-rich soils with traces of limestone bedrock.

"2020 was drier than average until the harvest, when it rained and diluted the grapes, and they had to wait to regain concentration. The result is that the 2020 Alión is a wine with better balance and freshness. They felt the skins were very ripe and they could extract more and use a little more American oak (4%) in the élevage. From 2019, they kept the press wine separate until June, and they keep separate quantities of press wines that are aged in different containers depending on the quality of the wine. They used a percentage of concrete and oak vats for the élevage, which gives the wine more verticality and freshness. It's a subtle and elegant Alión, not as dense as some other vintages, but with nice balance and very elegant tannins."

"The 2020 Valbuena 5° ages five years in oak and bottle, which gives it its name. Harvest was challenging due to Covid and rain, requiring due diligence in the field and a faster, earlier harvest than anticipated, the grapes coming from the Vega Sicilia estate’s vines with about 35 years of age. It’s an ethereal, medium-bodied wine of lovely delicacy and elegance, 97% Tempranillo blended with 3% Merlot, then aged 12 months in French and American oak, six months in stainless steel and then 18 months in bottle. Blackcurrant, cedar, and balsamic highlight a citrusy freshness. It will hit its prime in five years and age another 20-25."

"Extremely perfumed with violets and a bouquet of flowers. Then there’s blue fruits such as blueberries and raspberries. Medium-bodied with beautifully crafted tannins that give a superb mouthfeel and finesse. Refinement with depth and focus. So wonderful to drink now but it will be even better in four or five years."

"This has a polished and complex nose of poached plums, dark cherries, tea leaves, graphite, milk chocolate and a touch of caramel. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm yet creamy tannins. Caressing, seductive and ripe, but with underlying freshness. 97% tempranillo and 3% cabernet sauvignon. Tasted from magnum. The normal bottle will be released 2023 and the magnum in 2025. Try after 2023."
