New WA Press for Cedric Bouchard

Do you know who really likes Cedric Bouchard Champagnes?  Everyone, it seems.  These bottlings already had great press from Vinous, now we have brand new reviews from Wine Advocate, August 10, 2023

"Overall, this is another impressive set of wines from Bouchard, who has produced remarkably intense, layered but fine-boned wines in a vintage that can often be a bit fat and blowsy. No doubt his insistence on low yields combined with vineyards that have seen meticulous farming for the better part of two decades does much to explain that. Of course, if Bouchard is the leading producer of the Côte des Bar, he also doesn't really "belong" here, or anywhere: he's simply making his wines, his way, with vineyards that, 20 years ago, no one had heard of; and surely the region's comparative obscurity, and thus the absence of expectations, contributed to the creative freedom that's essential to his way of working. For that reason, I hesitated between including Cédric's wines in this report or publishing my reviews in a separate article. The fact, however, that one of the most exciting things about the Aube is the blank canvas it offers to new talents inclined me toward the former choice." - William Kelley

2020 Cedric Bouchard Cote de Val Vilaine Blanc de Noirs - WA94
"Bouchard's NV Blanc de Noirs Côte de Val Vilaine (2020) is a worthy follow-up to the 2019, and time will tell which is the better of the two vintages. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of pear, green apple, crisp stone fruit and bread dough, it's medium to full-bodied, pillowy and precise, with a beautifully refined but intensely flavored palate that's finer-boned than the richer, more powerful 2019 rendition. Long and penetrating, this is another brilliant wine from Cédric Bouchard."

2018 Cedric Bouchard Les Ursules Blanc de Noirs - WA96
"Bouchard's 2018 Blanc de Noirs Les Ursules is a particular success, wafting from the glass with aromas of white flowers, crisp red apple, clear honey, wet stones and crushed mint. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and precise, it's pure, racy and concentrated, with impressive tension and finesse that transcends this frequently blowsy, open-knit vintage. Exigent agronomy and timely harvesting pays off, once again."

2018 Cedric Bouchard La Boloree Blanc de Blancs - WA97
"The 2018 Blanc de Blancs La Bolorée has also turned out beautifully, offering up aromas of clear honey, peach, white flowers, crushed mint, orange zest and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and racy palate that's simultaneously rich and intensely mineral, exhibiting a beautifully fine-boned, elegantly vinous profile and a long, sapid finish."
