Domaine de Gaubourg, Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance, Anjou

A former chef turned vigneron, Félix Célard swapped the kitchens of Le Bristol for the schist soils of Anjou, releasing his first vintage in 2022.  He spent time working under Thibaud Boudignon, now his friend and mentor, eventually returning to his family home and surrounding vineyards in Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance.

There he organically farms 6 hectares of Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grolleau Noir, and Gamay, incorporating biodynamic treatments, herbal work and regenerative eco-grazing techniques.  His approach is serious but not dogmatic, hands-on, and low-intervention.  His wines are fresh, crisp, and delicious. 

The newly released 2025s make for an excellent introduction...
