Champagne Caillez-Lemaire, Damery - Vallée de la Marne

Founded in 1942 by Raymond Caillez and Andrée Lemaire, the estate has been managed since 2005 by 4th-generation Virginie (Caillez) and husband Laurent Vanpoperinghe.  Their holdings consist of 45 plots over 6.3 hectares, all within a 6km radius of the winery.  Vineyards are mainly on the right bank of the Marne River around five villages: Hautvillers and Cumières in the premier cru area, Damery, Fleury la Rivière and Vauciennes.

Caillez-Lemaire has been certified by Ecocert since 2023, organic since 2020, and have used no chemical sprays for much further back than certification.  Wines are mostly fermented in older barrels, a signature of the house style, with no filtration and no malolactic fermentation to retain aromatics and freshness.  Dosage is minimal to none.  Production is tiny.  The results are complex, textured, and vibrant.  This is an exciting new grower well worth your attention...
