Limited Allocation - New Release Prieuré Roch 2023s

We just received a limited allocations of the newly released 2023s from Prieuré Roch.

A note on the vintage & unique labelling on some wines in 2023:

The 2023 vintage was unusual and challenging, and working within Burgundy’s strict AOC rules meant careful decisions had to be made at every stage. For this vintage, Domaine Prieuré Roch carried out a particularly strict selection during vinification. Some wines, originally intended for higher appellations, were deliberately declassified - and the estate’s own standards. As such, several Vosnes were classifed as Vin de France, and the Clos des Beze is labelled as Gevrey 1er Cru 'Reserve'.

These wines clearly reflect Prieuré Roch’s philosophy: the wine always comes before the label. The overall style is defined by bright, expressive fruit, a strong sense of energy, and a fresh, vibrant profile that makes the wines approachable while still offering depth and complexity.

Domaine Prieuré Roch was created in 1988 by Henry Frederic Roch, grandson of Henri Leroy. He was working as the co-director of Domaine de la Romanee Conti, when DRC decided to sell some parcels in Vosne Romanee. Henry jumped at the opportunity and purchased them himself.

The Domaine today comprises around 20 hectares spread over Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Ladoix and Savigny-les-Beaune. A rarity in Burgundy, the estate owns three of the most prestigious Clos monopoles: Clos des Corvées (5 hectares in Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru), Clos des Varoilles (6 hectares in Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru), and most exceptionally, Clos Goillotte (0.55 hectares in Vosne-Romanée) which was the private vineyard of the Prince of Conti.
