Duuuuuroché | New Arrivals & Rare Gems!

Located in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, Pierre Duroché and his wife Marianne helm the fifth-generation domaine that is today regarded among the best in Burgundy. With their joint eponymous label, the couple also sources some of the best vineyards from both Marianne's family's old vines and trusted growers, adding to their already staggering list of crus. Classic in style, Pierre's wines exude complexity and depth while maintaining an inimitable weightlessness that is envy of many a vigneron...and collector.

Pierre is apart of the few Burgundian vignerons to experiment with tressage (rolling vines' canopies instead of trimming them). In the cellar, new oak continues to make a minimal contribution, . Vinifications continue to be rather delicate, with comparatively short macerations and little in the way of pigéage. Fully renovated winery facilities, complete with a battery of made-to-measure stainless steel tanks, facilitate precision vinification, something that was a particular advantage in 2023.

"How the hell have I missed Duroché? Mea culpa. I've driven past their gates in the middle of Gevrey village countless times and clocked the signage, but had neither the time nor the wherewithal to check out what lies beyond. That's my loss. Wrist duly slapped. Because when I did finally pull up my socks and arrange a tasting with winemaker Pierre Duroché, I was poured the kind of red Burgundy wines that put a big fat grin on my face: poised and terroir-driven, but delivering fruit and complexity."
