Henri Boillot came on board his family's domaine in 1975. Working his way up the ladder, starting his négoce business in '95, and ultimately taking over the domaine in 2005, Henri has long since cemented his family's legacy as one of the Côte d'Or's most revered producers.

Cuvées labeled "Maison" are négoce fruit, while cuvée's labeled "Domaine" are domaine fruit. Both are considered exceptional, with Allen Meadows confidently calling Boillot one of the finest négoce producers:

"Henri Boillot continues to make stunning wines from his négociant operation and he has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white burgundy today; yes there are other very fine négociants but the huge majority of them are really domaines hidden inside a "Maison" facade that buy in fruit or must to supplement their proprietary wines."

"The 2022 Meursault Les Poruzots 1er Cru marries fruit intensity with drive. It’s a combination that works so well here. Then again, that is a signature of this part of the vineyard. Crushed rocks, lemon peel, mint, white pepper and light tropical notes all come alive with some time in the glass."

"The 2022 Meursault Clos Richemont 1er Cru is a dense, opulent white built on texture more than anything else. It is one of the most overt wines in the Boillot range. Orange jam, spice, vanillin, lemon confit and baked apple tart infuse the 2022 with tons of textural intensity. This is such a distinctive wine."

2022 Maison Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrieres

"Middling deep yellow. A little oak on the nose, but otherwise high class predominantly orchard fruit. This is more nuanced than the Folatières, entirely white fruit and a good balance between the clay and the minerals. An excellent and persistent finish."

"All domaine fruit now, from Les Chevalières, Luraule. Pelles, Casses Têtes, Petits Charrons. Pale to medium lemon yellow. A generous bouquet speaking clearly of Meursault. A broad bench of ripe white apple fruit with excellent energy, good acidity behind, and notable persistence. Very Meursault and quite delicious."

"A slightly riper nose freely offers up liqueur-like aromas of cassis, black raspberry, kirsch and a lovely range of spice elements. 2022 Maison Henri Boillot Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru

"A fine crimson to purple. The bouquet is exquisite albeit alongside its oak. I don’t know how he does it but every year this is one of the great Bonnes Mares. Overtly luxurious yet tempered by a fine grain to the fruit and the tannins, with brilliant length. Sensational, yet avoids being just sumptuous."

2022 Domaine Henri Boillot Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru
JM 95-98, VM 95-97, BH 96
"A glowing pale yellow. Super-concentrated if not yet very yielding bouquet. Extra tension here, certainly some depth, but perhaps more in class than power. That will change with time – the class with remain but the depth will expand. White fruit, tension, some youthful bitters, but keeping itself to itself for the moment. Really very long finish though."
